UNITED WAY OF COWLITZ AND WAHKIAKUM COUNTIES FIGHTS FOR THE HEALTH, EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL STABILITY OF EVERY PERSON IN OUR COMMUNITY, AND IN THESE TRYING TIMES WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC CAUSING RAPID AND STRAINING CHANGES HERE AT HOME, THE UNITED WAY TEAM HAS ESTABLISHED A COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND TO AID THE MOST CURRENT CRITICAL NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY.
How the Fund Works:
The COVID-19 Response Fund is a flexible fund and is designed to received community contributions that are undesignated so swift deployment of funds can be made to the most critical areas in need in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties.
100% of contributions given to this fund will be directed to the areas most in need. No admin fees will be taken.
- The United Way Board of Directors will approve funding distributions swiftly and on-going as needs are assessed.
- The COVID-19 Response Fund is meant to serve the community for a short to medium term ranging from 3-6 months, but may extend past that time depending on developments.
- Updates will be posted here frequently to inform donors and community members on funds distributed and details.
Fund Focus Area
Funding distribution areas may include food, shelter, rental and utility assistance, prescriptions, childcare and healthcare systems supports, but is not limited to those areas as this is a flexible fund enabling support to go to where it is needed most during this crisis. Funding can be awarded to local non-profit 501c3 organizations in the Cowlitz and Wahkiakum County region and not to individual submitted needs
Process for Entities in Need of Support:
Requesting organizations must be a 501c3 and operate and serve in the Cowlitz and Wahkiakum County region.
There is not a formal grant application process set up for this fund as is typical of all other United Way funding opportunities. Agencies in need should e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with a request stating the name of the agency requesting, specific need, time urgency and number of people estimated to serve.
The United Way Board of Directors will approve funding distributions on-going as needs are assessed.
