Proceeds from the tournament will benefit United Way of Cowlitz & Wahkikaum Counties programs. United Way has many products and intitatives to support community members through these challenging times. A COVID-19 Response Fund was established to meet the most urgent essential needs of our local nonprofits. Examples of such funding have been providing childcare funding for essential workers and first repsonders, Food and necessities to multiple food banks, and mental health teletherapy equipment and training to meet the rise in mental health needs. United Way also administers two critical federal funding phases with the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (under FEMA) that provided funds to local food and shelter programs. In addition to meeting emergency needs related to the pandemic, United Way anchors its impact efforts in 3 areas: health, education and financial stability. Getting 100% of our youth to graduation prepared for diverse post-secondary opportunities and beyond is United Way's Community Impact goal. One product to aid in getting kids to graduation is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program, that is considered world class for improved Kindergarten assessment scores, a mile marker that needs uplifitng in our community. To date 3,824 early learners (0-5) in Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties have received age appropriate books mailed to their homes to learn and engage with their families. United Way mobilizes the caring power of our community to continuously improve the lives of those in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties, and we invite you to join us in creating further impacts.
